“Holding On” (Rev. 3:7-13). More than once, a biblical writer asks, “How long, O Lord?” We don’t find that question here, but it could lurk under the surface of Jesus’ letter to Philadelphia. Of the seven letters in Chapters 2-3, this is the only one without a stern rebuke or warning, just the clear promise of blessing for holding on, even if it seems like we can’t.
