“Cheating Death” (Rev. 3:1-6). The letter to Sardis—like the others—is about self-awareness. It seems as if this particular church, though, was truly on the verge of extinction, mainly because they were living in denial. Ironically, the Sardis Church had a reputation that didn’t match its reality—a reminder that who we truly are matters much more than who we only appear to be.
