  • C.R.O.S.S.

    Local Food Shelf

CROSS is a non-profit serving families and individuals living in Rogers, Maple Grove, Osseo, Champlin, Corcoran and Dayton. They provide food, clothing and other supportive services to those in temporary need and are supported by community donations. We partner with CROSS in several ways through periodic drives for non-perishable foods, school supplies or other items that are needed. We also partner with CROSS to provide Kidpacks to Birch Grove Elementary School. For more information on CROSS, visit their website HERE!

How you can help CROSS during the COVID-19 pandemic:

CROSS only keeps one month supply of non-perishable food. They will need a steady supply of more food if the stores continue to be emptied by the general public. CROSS is a community-supported organization and needs the community to help them continue to serve those in need. Here is what you can do:

    1. Donate non-perishable food and hygiene supplies: Drop off non-perishable foods and hygiene supplies at CROSS 12915 Weinand Circle in Rogers.
    2. Donate financially: You can donate at their location or online HERE!

  • FIRST COVENANT Homeless shelter

1st Covenant Church is a diverse, multi-generational, urban Christian community in Minneapolis. They partner with St. Stephens Human Services year-round to provide shelter to 55 men and women experiencing homelessness. Community groups, families, friends and neighbors from MGCC (and beyond) can sign up to prepare and serve meals whenever it works for their group.

How you can help 1st Covenant Homeless Shelter during the COVID-19 pandemic:

    1. Prepare and drop off a frozen or fresh meal (no on-site meal groups at this time)
    2. Donate money or supplies (respiratory masks, hand sanitizer, tissues, rubber gloves, underwear, tents, tarps, thermal underwear, wet wipes, travel-sized toiletries)
    3. Donate money to have a local restaurant do take-out to provide a meal ($200-$250 provides a meal for 55 guests experiencing homelessness and also supports local restaurants).

  • Birch Grove Elementary School

Local Outreach Opportunity – School Supply Drive:

We are excited to partner with Birch Grove to fill backpacks for Birch Grove students this year! Here’s the scoop – each year at Birch Grove’s Open House, families who are struggling can request help from the school to provide school supplies for their kiddos. This year, the school is anticipating an increased need, and they weren’t sure how they were going to meet it.

Our Kidpack partnership started a relationship between MGCC and Birch Grove last year, and we have the opportunity to build that relationship and partner with Birch Grove in this way, too. It’s exciting to see the Holy Spirit at work!

    Here’s the deal:

    • People who are interested in filling a backpack with supplies from Birch Grove’s school supply list can sign up here!  (Sign up now, but don’t buy supplies yet!)
    • People who are interested in making a financial donation to pool towards filling backpacks can donate here and select Local Outreach under Fund. (No need to sign up—you can donate any time!)
    • After Birch Grove’s Open House on Wednesday September 2nd, we will get in touch with those who have signed up to fill a backpack and let you know which kiddo you’ve been assigned. You’ll know the child’s grade so you can purchase a backpack and supplies as per Birch Grove’s School Supply List. Backpacks will be due back at church that Sunday for delivery to the school on Labor Day so the kids will have their backpacks and supplies on the first day of school. Quick turnaround!

Kidpack Weekend Food for Kids is a program that helps supply weekend food for kids who rely on school breakfasts and lunches to get enough to eat during the week. CROSS facilitates the Kidpack program in our area, and we are excited that they have connected us to Birch Grove Elementary School in Brooklyn Park. MGCC packs more than 250 food bags once a month during the school year. These food bags contain 8 non-perishable food items that are delivered to Birch Grove students every month.

How you can help Birch Grove Elementary during the COVID-19 pandemic:

There are families and staff who could benefit from grocery and gas gift cards during this time. If interested, please donate on the MGCC website or app via PushPay, and select the fund named “Local Outreach.” You can also mail a check to the church and write “Local Outreach” in the memo line. We will purchase gift cards and deliver them to the school who will distribute to families in need!
