Job Description



Job Title:               Interim Worship Leader


Reports To:           Lead Pastor


Classification:        Stipend (15-20 hours/week)


Grade:                   13





Job Purpose

The Interim Worship Leader assists our church community in consistent, meaningful, participatory worship, effectively working with and utilizing our existing resources and gifted worshipers within the church body.


Primary Responsibilities

The following information describes the general nature and level of work being performed in this job. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.



Lead the Worship Ministry

  • Plan weekly orders of worship based upon Lead Pastor’s worship plans and incorporate Lead Pastor’s feedback 
  • Organize schedules of worship team members and tech involved in the worship services through Planning Center
  • Lead worship services with excellence & passion 
  • Schedule and oversee any special music (solos, ensembles, choirs etc.)
  • Plan, rehearse, and direct seasonal services (Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Easter, Thanksgiving Eve). Additional hours allowed for these events with Lead Pastor pre-approval.
  • Lead the congregation in further living out our mission of Go Love Live
  • Deliver a high-level quality product (worship service) each week.
  • Recruit new volunteers.
  • Train and develop current talent through hands-on-leadership, opportunities, and various resources.
  • Be available to the people involved in Worship Ministries



 Participate fully as a staff member of MGCC

  • Staff retreats, meetings, planning and services
  • All church events – retreats, picnics, services

Communicate to MGCC attendees to live in freedom by living a life of character

Experience community through Community Groups    



Education, Experience and Abilities  

Guidelines for this position are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s degree in music preferred
  • Strong, growing faith relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Acceptance of and adherence to the Covenant Affirmations of the Evangelical Covenant Church
  • Strong musical gifts and abilities
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work with teams of volunteers, who have somewhat diverse worship tastes
  • Authentic, warm stage presence
  • Working knowledge of Pro Presenter and Planning Center software
